Guest scientist Hashem Shahsavani in Karlsruhe

The Karlsruhe WIT team at the Geophysical Institute, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, welcomes Mr. Hashem Shahsavani from the Department of Mining, Petroleum & Geophysics Engineering, Shahrood University of Technology, Shahrood, Iran. He is pursuing a doctoral degree under the supervision of Dr. Iradj Piruz (Shahrood) and Dr. Jürgen Mann (Karlsruhe).

During his six-month stay, Mr. Shahsavani will implement and apply a new variant of the so-called Common-Diffraction-Surface (CDS) stack method. This method has been devised for complex subsurface structures for which the established Common-Reflection-Surface stack suffers from numerous conflicting dip situations. This project is a continuation of the successful cooperation between Shahrood University and WIT during the last years.
